CHARLESTON, S.C. -- The Marist men's basketball team (0-9) returns to action on Sunday following an eight-day layoff when the Red Foxes face College of Charleston (4-5). Tip-off at TD Arena/John Kresse Court is scheduled for 2 p.m.

In Marist’s last outing, the Red Foxes suffered a 70-59 home loss to Manhattan on Dec. 6. Junior swingman Chavaughn Lewis scored a game-high 23 points for the Red Foxes, and had 13 of the team’s final 16 points of the game.

On the season, Lewis leads the Red Foxes with 16.7 points per game, followed by senior forward Jay Bowie and red-shirt freshman guard Khallid Hart with 10.1 apiece. Senior center Adam Kemp leads the team in rebounds at 6.3 per game.

College of Charleston is in its first season as a member of the Colonial Athletic Association, and was picked to finish third in the conference’s preseason poll. The Cougars are led in scoring by Canyon Berry at 12.4 points per game. Adjehi Baru is the team’s leading rebounder at 8.2 per game, and is second in scoring at 10.8 points per game.

The only prior meeting between the Red Foxes and Cougars took place last season, when College of Charleston earned an 85-75 win at McCann Arena on New Year’s Eve.

Following Sunday’s game, Marist will return home for its final two games of the 2013 calendar year. The Red Foxes will host Patriot League foe Bucknell on Friday at 7 p.m., and Ivy League foe Penn on Sunday at 2 p.m.
