ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Fifth-year senior safety Tyler Ramsey (Southbridge, Mass.) and senior kicker/punter Jesse Signa (South Huntington, N.Y.) of the Marist football team were named to the Academic All-Pioneer Football League (PFL) teams on Wednesday. Ramsey was a First Team selection, and Signa was named to the Second Team.

A Business Administration major, Ramsey was named CoSIDA/Capital One First Team Academic All-District this fall. He is a two-year captain who was named Second Team Academic All-PFL in both 2010 and 2011. Ramsey is the only player in program history to be named to the PFL Academic Honor Roll four times in his career. He was also named Honorable Mention All-PFL for his work on the field in the 2010 season. This year, as a starting safety, Ramsey appeared in all 11 games and was sixth on the team with 48 tackles.

This is the first time Signa has been named to an Academic All-PFL Team. He is an Accounting major who was named to the PFL Academic Honor Roll in both the 2011 and 2012 seasons. Signa played in all 11 games this year, and had duties as the team’s punter, placekicker and kickoff specialist. His 29 touchbacks in 54 kickoffs led the PFL. He averaged 38.4 yards on his 31 punts and scored 35 points as a kicker, which included two made field goals of over 40 yards.

The Marist football team won a varsity record eight games in 2013, and earned a share of the PFL championship with a 7-1 mark in league play.
