Men's Lacrosse Names Dondero, Linehan, Osborn, And Scarcello Captains For 2014 Season
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist men’s lacrosse team has named its captains for the upcoming 2014 season. Head coach Keegan Wilkinson has announced that seniors Kevin Dondero (Smithtown, N.Y.), Michael Linehan (Rye, N.Y.), Gannon Osborn (Canandaigua, N.Y.) and junior Dave Scarcello (Buffalo, N.Y.) have been named captains.
“Our staff is very happy to announce our captains for the upcoming season. These four, along with their fellow upperclassmen, did a fantastic job of leading the team throughout the course of the fall semester. There has been great commitment to every practice and workout since we began the fall season, this is a direct reflection of the leadership Kevin, Michael, Gannon, and Dave have exhibited on a daily basis. As a staff, we are very proud of the team and know that these four will continue to do a great job as we head into the spring season.”
Dondero has appeared in 23 games for the Red Foxes, contributing two goals, one assist, 11 ground balls, and two caused turnovers. Dondero was named to the MAAC All-Academic team in 2012. Linehan has appeared in three games for Marist, recording three saves and allowing only one goal against.
Osborn has seen action in 41 games for the Red Foxes, posting nine goals and 15 assists with 58 ground balls and 18 caused turnovers. He finished fifth on the team in assists with nine and ground balls with 33 in 2013. Osborn was named to the MAAC All-Academic team in 2012 and 2013.
Scarcello has appeared in 20 games for Marist, recording 15 starts. He has recorded 149 saves in the net with a 9.84 goals against average. He has collected 27 ground balls and has six caused turnovers. Scarcello was named the MAAC Defensive Player of the Week four times in 2013.
The Red Foxes open their 2014 season at Stony Brook on Friday, Feb. 14th. Marist is looking to qualify for the MAAC Tournament for the fifth consecutive season.
