POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Athletics Department and men’s lacrosse head coach Keegan Wilkinson have released the schedule for the 2014 season. The Red Foxes finished the 2013 season with a 10-4 overall record and 5-1 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) schedule. This season Marist will play a 13-game schedule, which includes five MAAC Lacrosse League contests.
The Red Foxes' schedule begins with a three game road trip, beginning on Friday, Feb. 14 at Stony Brook. Last season, Marist defeated Stony Brook 13-9. Marist then heads to Denver, Colo. for the Frontier Airlines Face-Off Classic to play Denver on Saturday, Feb. 22 and Air Force on Sunday, Feb. 23. Last season, Denver made it to the NCAA final four where it lost to Syracuse, 4-1. The Pioneers also lost in the ECAC men’s lacrosse championship to Ohio State, 11-10.
Marist opens up the month of March at home with two consecutive contests; Saturday, March 1 vs. Marquette and Friday, March 7 vs. Towson. In 2013, Marist downed Towson 10-9. Towson won the Colonial Athletic Association championship last season.
The Red Foxes open up MAAC play with a quick trip up to Albany, N.Y. to face Siena on Saturday, March 15 is followed by three consecutive home games; Saturday, March 22 vs. Quinnipiac, Tuesday, March 25 vs. Brown, and Saturday, March 29 vs. Manhattan. The Red Foxes defeated Siena last season 10-9, but fell to Manhattan 14-12.
The Red Foxes will then hit the road for three non-conference matchups. Marist heads to Michigan on Saturday, April 5 to face Detroit. Marist was narrowly edged by Detroit in the MAAC semi-finals, 7-6. This matchup is followed by two games, starting with Hofstra on Tuesday, April 8. After more than a week off, the squad will face Monmouth on Saturday, April 19. Monmouth and Quinnipiac are both new members of the MAAC.
On Saturday, April 26 Marist closes out the 2014 regular season at home against Canisius. The Red Foxes dominated the Golden Griffins last season, walking away with a 13-5 victory.
The 2013 MAAC Championships will be hosted by Marist at Tenney Stadium May 2-4. The top four teams at the end of the regular season qualify for the tournament. Marist has reached the semifinals the past four seasons.

We will also face off against great teams from highly respected conferences that include the CAA, Big East, America East, and Ivy League. We look forward to these contests which should be great preparation for our team heading into MAAC play.”
