Womenís Basketball To Welcome Baab, Birchmeier, And Clement To Class Of 2018
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist women’s basketball team and head coach Brian Giorgis have announced the signing of National Letters of Intent (NLI) for three student athletes. Kendall Baab, Payton Birchmeier, and Allie Clement will join the Red Foxes next season as members of the class of 2018.
Chaska, Minnesota / Chaska High School
AAU Team: Minnesota Fury
Baab averaged eight points, four rebounds, two blocks and started 29 games as a junior at Chaska High School. She is ranked #28 in the state of Minnesota for the 2014 class by Breakdown Sports USA. She played AAU for the Minnesota Fury, which featured ten Division 1 signees, and was highlighted by Blue Star Media as an ‘intriguing prospect’ in the class of 2014.
Baab, a Dean’s List student, is a three-year academic letter winner and a member of the National Honor Society. She participates in Key Club and Link Crew. She also has received an excellence rating at the Minnesota State Music Competition playing first chair cello for the Chaska High School orchestra.
Corunna, Michigan / Corunna High School
AAU Team: Michigan Elite Central
Birchmeier is a two-time all-conference and all-area dream team member. She was also named the all-area player of the year during her sophomore and junior year. As a junior she averaged 18.3 points, 12.2 rebounds and three blocks while being named all-state honorable mention. She is also an all-conference and all-district softball player.
Birchmeier is an honor roll student and member of the National Honors Society.
Falmouth, Maine / Catherine McAuley High School
AAU Team: Maine Firecrackers
Clement is a three-time all-conference and all-state player at McAuley High School. She helped lead her team to three consecutive state championships and a 48-game winning streak. As a junior she averaged 18.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, three steals and three assists while being name to the conference all-defensive team for the second time. She is the 2012-13 Maine Gatorade State Player of the Year and Portland Press Herald Player of the Year.
Clement is an honor roll student and part of the National Honors Society. She is the Vice President of the Varsity Club and also participates in ambassador club and the Spanish club.
