PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Marist men's basketball team (0-3) will face Providence (2-0) of the Big East Conference on Saturday at the Dunkin' Donuts Center. Tip-off is set for 4 p.m.
This is the first meeting between Marist and Providence since 1988, and the second all-time, with the Friars holding a 1-0 series advantage.
The Red Foxes are coming off an 81-62 loss at Saint Joseph's on Wednesday. In the game, junior swingman Chavaughn Lewis (Queens, N.Y.) scored a game-high 26 points, and senior forward Jay Bowie (Tampa, Fla.) added 11 on 4-for-5 shooting.
Providence has a pair of four-point home victories this season against Boston College (in overtime) and Brown. The Friars are coached by Ed Cooley, who previously coached against Marist from 2006-11 as Fairfield's head coach.

Saturday's game concludes a stretch of four games in eight day for Marist to open the season. The Red Foxes will return to action on Friday, Nov. 22 when it plays the first of three games in the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Marist will open the tournament against Maryland, with tip-off scheduled for 4 p.m.
