POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist women’s basketball team (0-2) heads to Princeton, N.J. on Sunday Nov. 17 to face Princeton (0-1) in a non-conference matchup. The last time the Red Foxes and Tigers faced each other in 2012 Marist was victorious, 56-45. Princeton and Marist are 1-1 all-time against each other.
The Red Foxes moved to 0-2 with a loss to the University at Albany on Thursday night, 69-59. Senior Leanne Ockenden (Syracuse, N.Y.) led the team in both points and rebounds with 18 and six, respectively. All of Ockenden’s points were three-point baskets, finishing the night 6-12 from beyond the arc. Senior Emma O'Connor (Lynbrook, N.Y.) contributed 17 points and five rebounds. Sophomore Madeline Blais (Exeter, N.H.) recorded 16 points and five rebounds. Junior Natalie Gomez-Martinez (Andover, Mass.) and Ockenden led the Red Foxes with five assists each.
Marist enters this season seeking its tenth Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) championship in program history, ninth consecutive, under head coach Brian Giorgis.
For the fifth consecutive season the Princeton women’s basketball team has been picked to win the Ivy League coming off their fourth straight conference title. Princeton is 0-1 heading into Sunday’s matchup, falling to Rutgers in its season opener, 79-65. Blake Dietrick scored a game-high and career-high 20 points, tallying a career-best seven field goals. In her first career start Alex Wheatley notched her first double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing a career-high 10 rebounds. Along with sophomore Wheatley moving into the starting five, classmates Amanda Berntsen and Michelle Miller earned their first career starts versus the Scarlet Knights. The Tigers welcome back 11 letterwinners, including All-Ivy selection Kristen Helmstetter.

Following Thursday’s matchup, the Marist women’s basketball team heads to Ohio State for the Hall Of Fame Challenge. The Red Foxes face Bowling Green, Ohio State, and Old Dominion in the tournament, kicking off the weekend on Friday, Nov. 22 against Bowling Green at 5:30 p.m.
