PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Fifth-year senior defensive end Terrence Fede (Nyack, N.Y.) of the Marist football team was named to the prestigious Buck Buchanan Award Watch List on Friday, it was announced by The Sports Network.
The Buck Buchanan Award, now in its 19th year, is presented by The Sports Network to the outstanding defensive player in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Fede is one of 20 players currently on the watch list.
Last Saturday, Fede set Marist’s all-time program record in sacks, and enters Saturday’s game against Mercer with 29.5 in his career. He has registered career highs with 12 sacks and 17 tackles for loss this season. In the FCS ranks, Fede is second in sacks per game and tackles for loss.
Fede has been named Pioneer Football League (PFL) Defensive Player of the Week twice this season, and four times in his career. At 6-foot-5, 270 pounds, Fede has drawn considerable interest from NFL scouts.
The Marist football team (7-3 overall, 6-1 PFL) will conclude its regular season on Saturday, when the Red Foxes host Mercer (9-1, 5-1) in a contest which will have league championship implications. A win will give the Red Foxes at least a share of the league championship, and set a program record for victories in a season. A Marist victory, coupled with a Butler loss at Morehead State, will give the Red Foxes the PFL’s automatic bid into the FCS playoffs.
