Marist Women's Basketball Kicks Off Eight Game Road Trip At Albany
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist women's basketball kicks off its eight game road trip on Thursday, Nov. 14 at the University at Albany (2-0). The Red Foxes are currently 0-1 overall following a 75-61 loss last week against #7/8 Kentucky in a sold out McCann Arena.
Marist enters this season seeking its tenth Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) championship in program history, ninth consecutive, under head coach Brian Giorgis.
Senior Leanne Ockenden (Syracuse, N.Y.) recorded a game high 16 points in the season opener against Kentucky last week. Senior Emma O'Connor (Lynbrook, N.Y.) recorded 10 points and a team high seven rebounds. Freshmen Brittni Lai (Irvington, N.Y.) and Katharine Fogarty (Peterborough, N.H.) posted impressive performances during their collegiate debuts, scoring eight and 11 points, respectively.
UAlbany is 2-0 heading into Thursday’s game following victories over Siena (69-42) and Western Michigan (77-61). The Red Foxes are 2-0 all-time against the Great Danes, defeating them in 2007, 75-71, and most recently in 2008, walking away with a 74-56 victory.
The game will be broadcast live on WKIP 1450 AM, as Geoff Brault begins his seventh season as play-by-play voice of the women's basketball team. Free audio streams are available on the Red Fox Network and iHeartRadio.
