POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Junior libero Brooke Zywick (Garden City, Mich.) of the Marist volleyball team was named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/Capital One Academic All-District Team.

Zywick is part of an overall outstanding effort from Marist’s volleyball team that has been the recipient of numerous recent academic achievements. Last June, the team earned its second consecutive NCAA Public Recognition Award for its Academic Progress Rate (APR) score. In August, the team earned a seventh consecutive American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) team academic award (all under head coach Tom Hanna). Zywick is ninth Marist volleyball player to be named Academic All-District in the last six years.

Zywick has appeared in every match for the Red Foxes since 2011. As a freshman, she finished the 2011 season with a team-high 356 digs. As a sophomore, she finished the 2012 season with a team-high 444 digs, at the time, the third most for a single season in program history.

This season, Zywick is contributing to a team that currently sits tied for second the MAAC with a 12-4 record – just ½ game out of first - and an overall record of 18-8. She leads the Red Foxes in total digs with 465, averaging 4.89 digs-per-set.

In 2012, Zywick was named to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference’s (MAAC) All-Academic Team.

With two home matches left against MAAC opponents Saint Peter’s and Rider this weekend, Zywick has an opportunity to set the program record for digs in a season. She currently sits one behind Katie Lux (466 in 2003) for second place in program history and 15 behind Emily Brosky (480 in 2009) for first. Zywick’s career high in digs (38) came last season against Saint Peter’s.
