POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- The Marist men's basketball team plays its first game of the season at McCann Arena on Sunday evening, when the Red Foxes host Elon of the Southern Conference. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m.

Marist opened its season on Friday with a 71-55 loss at Stony Brook. Junior guard Isaiah Morton led the Red Foxes with 15 points, followed by junior swingman Chavaughn Lewis with 14.

Elon also opened its season on Friday. The Phoenix rolled to a 114-64 triumph over Washington & Lee in which they shot 72 percent from the field. Elon was the preseason pick to win the Southern Conference in both the media and coaches' polls.

Lewis enters the game with 993 career points. To date, 28 players have scored their 1,000th career point in a Marist uniform.

For the Red Foxes, this game is the second of a four games in eight days stretch. After Sunday's contest, Marist will not be back at McCann Arena until their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference home opener against Manhattan on Dec. 6.
