Adler, Martin Earn College Football Performance Awards
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Junior safety Zach Adler (Walden, N.Y.) and senior wide receiver Armani Martin (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) each earned Football Championship Subdivision College Football Performance Awards due to their efforts at their respective positions in Marist’s 42-35 victory over Jacksonville this past Saturday.
Martin had six receptions for 162 receiving yards, averaging 27 yards per reception, and three touchdowns. In the process, Martin broke the program record for receiving touchdowns in a season with 11.
Adler had one tackle-for-loss and two interceptions, with one coming at a crucial point in the game on Jacksonville’s first possession of the second half. The interception came near midfield and kept the score tied at 21-21. Marist scored on its ensuing possession, taking a 28-21 lead.
Adler had previously earned Pioneer Football League’s Defensive Player of the Week, Oct. 28, 2012. This was each player’s first FCS College Football Performance Award.
The Red Foxes (6-3 overall, 5-1 PFL) will travel to Buies Creek, N.C. to take on Campbell (2-7, 1-5) on Saturday Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.
