POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist women’s basketball team has been ranked 35th nationally in the most recent AP Top 25 Preseason Poll.

Tied for 35th with Missouri, the Red Foxes were placed behind Middle Tennessee, Creighton, and Georgia Tech. The team was ranked with 10 votes, ahead of Texas, Washington, Quinnipiac, Florida State, James Madison, South Florida, and UT Martin.

The Red Foxes look to contend their ninth consecutive, 10th overall, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship title and NCAA Tournament appearance.

Similar to the recent USA Today Coaches Poll, two of Marist’s non-conference opponents were featured. Kentucky was voted seventh overall, while Oklahoma placed 11th.

The Red Foxes were unanimously selected by the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll as the favorite to win another MAAC championship this season.

The Marist women’s basketball team kicks off the 2013-14 season at home against Kentucky on Friday, Nov. 8. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the McCann Arena. Head coach Brian Giorgis will be donating a dime for each fan in attendance at each women’s home game to hunger awareness in the Hudson River Valley.
