POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The first-place Marist football team (5-3 overall, 4-1 Pioneer Football League) will play third place Jacksonville (4-4, 3-2) at home on Saturday.  Kickoff at Tenney Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.

Marist is tied for first in the PFL with Butler, Dayton and San Diego, and Mercer (3-1 PFL) gives the league five teams with only one loss.  The champion of the league will earn an automatic bid to the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs.

Last Saturday, the Red Foxes defeated Stetson, 27-0.  Senior quarterback Chuckie Looney (Ocala, Fla.) led Marist with four touchdowns and 381 offensive yards.   Defensively, fifth-year senior defensive end Terrence Fede (Nyack, N.Y.) had four tackles for loss, and senior linebacker Paul Sakowski (Chester, N.Y.) had seven tackles, including a sack. Looney was honored as PFL Co-Offensive Player of the Week, and Fede was named PFL Defensive Player of the Week.

Jacksonville won its last game against Davidson last Saturday by a score of 56-13.  The Dolphins have scored over 50 points this season in all four of their wins, and quarterback Kade Bell had a career best of 323 yards and four touchdowns.  Defensively, this was a season low for points scored against Jacksonville, and Anthony Joiner led the team with nine tackles.

Fans can listen live to Ed Weir (play-by-play) and Geoff Brault (color) beginning at 12:45 p.m. EDT. The contest will be air live on WKIP (1450 AM in Poughkeepsie), the Red Fox Network and iHeartRadio, and video will be carried on the Red Fox Network for a subscription fee.
