POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – In coordination with its alumni game this past weekend, head coach Keegan Wilkinson and the Marist men’s lacrosse team handed out its 2013 team awards in a banquet the morning of the alumni game.

The banquet, held at the Cornell boathouse, was highlighted by the naming of Ethan Fox (class of 2013) and Jack Doherty (class of 2013) as the 2013 MVPs, presented by Matt Francis (class of 2010). Francis was presented with the 2010 MVP Award during his senior year.

Fox was tied for second for ground balls with 38 and led the team with 19 caused turnovers.  He had a season high six ground balls on February 23rd versus Sacred Heart.  In his four year career, Fox had a total of 104 ground balls and 57 career caused turnovers.  Fox was named to the USILA North-South Senior Lacrosse Games, All-MAAC First Team his senior year, and MAAC All-Academic Team in his last three season.      

Doherty led the team and the MAAC with 33 goals and was second in points with 45.  He had a team high of 7.43 goal in every game, and had four hat tricks.  Doherty was also tied for second on the team with 12 assists and sixth with 30 ground balls. He scored at least one goal in every game, and scored a season high four goals on March 8th at Towson and April 13th against Jacksonville.  In his four year career, Doherty had a total of 98 goals and 34 assists. He was named to the USILA North-South Senior Lacrosse Games, All-MAAC Second Team all three years he was at Marist, and was named MAAC Offensive Player of the Week.

Brendan Price (class of 2013) was honored with the Paul Clearly Award, presented by Terrence Dempsey (class of 2008). Dempsey was a team captain in 2008. Price, a goalie for the men’s lacrosse team, finished his career with 161 goals against, 9.70 goals against average, 152 saves, and 33 ground balls. In 2012, Price recorded a Marist-season high 14 saves against Binghamton. That same season, Price finished with a 9.10 goals against average, tanking second-best in the MAAC. Price was named to the MAAC All-Academic Team in 2011.

Joseph Radin (class of 2016) was honored with the 2013 Edward Coombs Outstanding Freshman Award, presented by James Taylor (class of 2009). Radin had an incredible freshman year, earning the title of MAAC Rookie of the Year and five MAAC Rookie of the Week awards. He started in all 14 games for the Red Foxes. Radin finished second on the team with 22 goals, third with 34 points, and tied for second with 12 assists. He also secured 30 ground balls and caused five turnovers.

The 2013 Scholar Athlete Award was presented to Michael O’Hagan (class of 2013), presented by Cammie Jones, the Marist Lacrosse Academic Advisor. O’Hagan finished his Marist career with one goal, three assists, four points, and 66 ground balls.

The 2013 Coaches Award was given to Aedan Herman (class of 2013), presented by assistant coach, Chris Harren (class of 2012). Over his four year career, Herman scored 30 goals, 14 assists, 44 points, 66 shots on goal, and 23 ground balls.

Connor Rice (class of 2013) was presented with this USILA All-American certificate as well. Rice started all 58 games for the Red Foxes during his career. He posted 96 goals, 98 assists, 19 points, and 108 ground balls. Rice was a USILA All-American Honorable Mention, played in the USILA North-South Senior Lacrosse Game, MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, All-MAAC First Team in 2013 and 2011, Preseason Tewaaraton Award Watch list in 2012 and 2013, MAAC Offensive Player of the Week five times, 2012 Preseason All-American Honorable Mention, All-MAAC Second Team in 2012, and MAAC All-Tournament Team in 2011.

The Red Foxes also honored its 2013 MAAC All-Conference selections: Rice for MAAC Offensive Player of the Year, Radin as MAAC Rookie of the Year, and Patrick Eaker (Redding, Conn.) for Long Stick Midfielder of the Year. Rice, Doherty, and Fox were named to the All-MAAC First Team. Jim Marks (Camillus, N.Y.), Drew Nesmith (Montclair, N.J.), and T.J. McDermott (Brewster, N.Y.) were named to the All-MAAC Second Team. Marks and Patrick Wall (Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.) were named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team, and Fox, Vin Chiodo (Garden city, N.Y.), Shane Jaeger (Ellicott City, Md.), and Gannon Osborn (Canandaigua, N.Y.) were named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.

The 2013 Marist squad finished with a 10-4 record overall and 5-1 in the conference in the team’s fourth consecutive MAAC Tournament appearance.
