NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Senior Dalen Klassen (St. Louis, Mo.) of the Marist men’s tennis team won in both singles and doubles to lead the Marist men’s tennis team at the ITA Regionals on Saturday at Yale.
Klassen defeated Arvis Berzins of Fairleigh Dickinson, 6-3, 6-3, in second round singles action. However, Klassen fell in the third round to Jason Luu of Cornell, 6-1, 2-6, 6-4.
Klassen also teamed with sophomore Trym Nagelstad (Oslo, Norway) to top Richard Pham and Mike Vermeer of Columbia, 8-7 (10-8), in the second round of the doubles main draw.
Also in the second round of the doubles main draw, seniors Lorenzo Rossi (Lugano, Switzerland) and Will Reznek (Toronto, Canada) fell to Nicky Hu and Brian Yeung of Harvard, 8-2. In singles main draw, action, Reznek suffered a 6-1, 6-4 loss to Dartmouth’s Dovydas Sakinis, 6-1, 6-4.
A pair of Red Foxes saw action in the consolation draw. Rossi toppled Dan Davies of Princeton, 6-4, 6-4. Junior Joseph Dube (Livonia, Mich.) dropped a 6-1, 6-1 match to Gregory Garcia of Brown.
Klassen and Nagelstad will continue play on Sunday in third round main draw doubles action.
