Maristís Looney Named PFL Co-Offensive Player Of The Week
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Senior quarterback Chuckie Looney (Ocala, Fla.) of the Marist football team was named Pioneer Football League Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Sunday.
Looney accounted for five touchdowns in the Red Foxes’ 43-23 victory at Georgetown on Saturday night, their first on the road against a Patriot League program in program history. He was 17-for-27 through the air for 275 yards and four touchdown passes, which tied a single-game program record. Looney added 42 rushing yards on six carries and a touchdown, which put the Red Foxes up for good with five seconds remaining in the first half.
Looney’s four touchdown passes went to four different receivers. He was 10-for-12 with three touchdowns in the second half. He was not sacked and did not turn the ball over in the contest.
Through three games this season, Looney has thrown for 719 yards and eight touchdowns against two interceptions.
Following a bye next week, Marist (1-2) returns to action at Dayton on Saturday, Sept. 28 in its Pioneer Football League opener. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
