POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Senior Jesse Signa (Huntington Beach, N.Y.) of the Marist football team has earned a College Football Performance Award on the basis of his efforts in the Red Foxes’ contest on Saturday.
Signa, who handles Marist’s punting and place-kicking duties, earned the award for his performance as a punter. He averaged 45.7 yards on his six punts on Saturday, including a 52-yard effort that went out of bounds at the Bucknell one-yard line. Five of his punts traveled 45 yards or more, two landed inside the 20, and his net average was 42.3 yards per punt.
On the season, Signa is averaging 41.6 yards on 14 punts. He has a long of 59 yards, has forced six fair catches and had four punts downed inside the 20. He does not have any touchbacks.
Marist (0-2) plays the second of its three consecutive road games this Saturday, when the Red Foxes travel to Georgetown (1-1) for a non-league game. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
