POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist volleyball team reported for its first day of preseason camp on Monday as the Red Foxes prepare for the 2013 season.
“It’s exciting to have everyone back,” head coach Tom Hanna said. “ I am looking forward to integrating our six newcomers with our veterans and those returning from studying abroad.”
The Red Foxes arrived to campus on Sunday afternoon, moving into the dorms and holding their initial team meetings. The team then met Monday morning for a mandatory NCAA meeting and physicals before conditioning tests in the afternoon and the first official practice this evening in McCann Arena.
The Red Foxes are looking to build off a strong ending to the 2012 campaign where the team won five of its final six matches. Overall, Marist finished the season with a 12-16 record and an 8-10 mark in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Marist returns all but three players from last year’s squad and six freshmen joined the program for this upcoming season
Marist opens its 2013 season on Friday, Aug. 30 at the Toledo Volleyball Invite. The Red Foxes will play its first home matches of the season in the Volley in the Valley Tournament the weekend of Sept. 6-7 when Dartmouth, Hartford and UMass-Lowell all visit McCann Arena.
