ST. LOUIS – Marist fifth-year seniors Phede Celestin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Terrence Fede (Nyack, N.Y.) were named to the 2013 All-Pioneer Football League (PFL) Preseason Team on Wednesday.

Celestin has been named First Team All-PFL each of the last two seasons, and is one of just five players in the league to earn that distinction. He has been Marist’s starter at right tackle the last three seasons. Celestin made 31 consecutive starts at the position before his 2012 season was cut short due to a leg injury.

Fede was named First Team All-PFL in 2012, and was Second Team All-PFL in 2011. He led the Red Foxes in sacks and tackles for losses last year, with nine and 12.5 this season, respectively. Fede was named this year’s Preseason PFL Defensive Player of the Year by Phil Steele’s College Football Preview.

Marist opens preseason camp on Wednesday, Aug. 7, and will hold its first official practice on Friday, Aug. 9. The Red Foxes open the 2013 season, their fifth as a member of the PFL, on Saturday, Aug. 31 against Sacred Heart at Tenney Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the Marist Athletics Department will host a postgame fireworks display. Season tickets for the 2013 Marist football season are available now.

This year, the PFL’s regular-season champion will earn an automatic bid into the 24-team NCAA Division I FCS Championship. This season marks the 21st year of the PFL, which has expanded to 12 teams with the addition of Mercer and Stetson.
