POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Red-shirt senior defensive lineman Terrence Fede (Nyack, N.Y.) of the Marist football team was named Preseason First Team All-Pioneer Football League (PFL) on Wednesday by College Sports Madness. Fede was named Preseason PFL Defensive Player of the Year in Phil Steele’s College Football Preview, and has led Marist in sacks the last two years.

A total of seven Red Foxes, including Fede, were named to All-PFL teams. Senior quarterback Chuckie Looney (Ocala, Fla.), senior offensive lineman Brandon Castelbuono (Wayne, N.J.), senior linebacker Paul Sakowski (Chester, N.Y.) and senior defensive back Nick Kaszei (Brook Park, Ohio) were named to the Second Team. Senior tight end David Diomede (Park Ridge, N.J.) and red-shirt senior offensive lineman Phede Celestin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) were Third Team honorees.

Looney is coming off a Marist single-season record with 18 touchdown passes. Castelbuono was named Honorable Mention All-PFL last year, and is a three-time PFL Academic Honor Roll selection. Sakowski has started every game the last two years for the Red Foxes at middle linebacker, and was named Honorable Mention All-PFL both years. Kaszei was named Honorable Mention All-PFL after starting all 11 games at free safety last year. Diomede appeared in every game as Marist’s second tight end last year, and will likely ascend into a starting role this year. Celestin has been named First Team All-PFL the last two years.

Marist opens the 2013 season on Aug. 31 against Sacred Heart at Tenney Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the Marist Athletics Department will host a postgame fireworks display. Season tickets for the 2013 Marist football season are available now.
