INDIANAPOLIS – The Marist volleyball team earned an NCAA Public Recognition Award for its Academic Progress Rate (APR) score.

The Public Recognition Awards are given to teams scoring in the top 10 percent of their sport with their APR scores. The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention. The most recent APR scores are multi-year rates based on the 2008-09 season through the 2011-12 academic years.

This is the second straight year Marist volleyball has earned an NCAA Public Recognition Award. In the seven years that Tom Hanna has been head coach, the Red Foxes have had eight Academic All-District selections and 45 MAAC All-Academic Team selections.

In all, five Marist teams received Public Recognition Awards, as women’s basketball, men’s cross country, men’s indoor track & field and men’s outdoor track & field were also honored.
