Edison, N.J. – Marist College, which captured seven Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship titles during the 2012-13 academic year, has earned the league’s highest honor, winning all three Academy Bus MAAC Commissioner's Cups. Marist has extended its conference record of overall Commissioner's Cups to 11.

The Academy Bus MAAC Commissioner’s Cup is awarded annually as a symbol of overall excellence in athletics in the 24 championship athletic events conducted within the MAAC. Each institution is scored in all championships that it fields a varsity team. However, only the scores from the men’s and women’s basketball participation, plus the other top six men’s and other top six women’s championships shall be used to determine an institution’s total points.

This is the fifth time that Marist swept all three categories – overall, men’s and women’s – previously accomplishing the feat in 2000-01, 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07. The Red Foxes captured five women’s and two men’s championships during the 2012-13 academic season. This past winter, Marist earned the title crown in women’s basketball as well as women’s swimming and diving. In the spring, Marist won the league championships in men’s and women’s rowing, men’s and women’s tennis, and softball.

“The ability of Marist College to capture all three Academy Bus MAAC Commissioner Cups reflects the institution’s broad-based support of NCAA Division I athletics and the leadership of athletic director Tim Murray, his staff and the commitment of their coaches and student-athletes to excel,” MAAC Commissioner Richard J. Ensor, Esq., said.

"I am very proud of our student-athletes and coaching staff for another successful academic year,” Tim Murray, Director of Athletics at Marist, said. “I am also proud of the fact that our athletes continue to be leaders on the athletic fields and in the classroom."

Marist finished the overall race with a total of 137 points, while Fairfield University finished in second place with 114 points. On the men’s side, Marist captured the top spot with 55.50 points, just two points more than runner-up Rider University (53.50). Marist finished in the top spot in the women’s cup race by compiling 81.50 points, 10 points ahead of Fairfield (71.50).
