POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – A trio of seniors from the Marist men’s lacrosse team have been selected to participate in the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA)/ Laxworld North-South Senior Lacrosse Game. Attack men Connor Rice (Penfield, N.Y.) and Jack Doherty (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) and defenseman Ethan Fox (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) all earned the honor to compete on the North Team.
Rice, the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Player of the Year, finished his Marist career with 194 points, tying for fourth on the all-time list. His 98 career assists also put him fourth in Marist history and his 96 career goals place him fifth. He led the Red Foxes in scoring in 2013 with 49 points on 19 goals and a career-high 30 assists, which is good for ninth in Marist’s single-season history. His assists and points total also led the entire MAAC.
Doherty joined Rice on the 2013 All-MAAC First Team, scoring a conference-high 33 goals. He topped the 30-goal plateau in each of his three seasons in a Marist uniform. He is also tied for second on the Red Foxes with 12 assists in 2013, giving him 45 points on the season, good for second both on the team and in the MAAC. He scored at least one goal in all 14 games this season, including multiple goals on 11 different occasions.
A team captain this season, Fox was also a member of the 2013 All-MAAC First Team. He led a stingy Marist defense this year, often drawing the challenge of guarding the opponent’s top offensive player. He responded by leading the team with 19 caused turnovers while scooping up 38 ground balls, tying for the second on the team.
The 72nd USILA/LaxWorld North-South Games will be played at the Edith Robb Dixon Field on the campus of Cabrini College in Radnor, PA, on Friday May 24, 2013. The Division I/II game will be played at 5:30 p.m., immediately following the Division III game, which will take place at 3 p.m. The Division I/II North team will be coached by Eric Seremet, the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach at the United States Air Force Academy.
