On Sunday, May 5, the Marist softball team (27-22, 10-4 MAAC) will close out its regular season schedule with a home doubleheader against conference rival Siena (19-25, 10-4 MAAC) beginning at 12 p.m. The doubleheader will help finalize the seeding of next week’s upcoming MAAC Championship; currently, Marist and Siena are tied for second with identical 10-4 marks in the MAAC, while Fairfield is first at 12-4. With two wins, the Red Foxes would clinch the top seed and a share of the regular season title.

Also Marist, who is currently on a six-game winning streak, will honor its five seniors prior to Game One. Sarah Carmody (Camarillo, Calif.), Danielle Koltz (Chenango Bridge, N.Y.), Christina Lausch (Lancaster, Pa.), Emily Osterhaus (Suwanee, Ga.) and Joelle Zahka (Lexington, Mass.) will be recognized for their successes and accolades that they have achieved as Red Foxes over the past four years. As a group they have won 98 games since 2010.

Last Time Out:  The Red Foxes swept Hartford in a doubleheader on Thursday, where freshman Nicole Cheek set the program’s single season record for RBIs with 48.  The previous record of 46 was set by Amanda Koldjeski in 2001. She went 4-for-6 on the day with home runs in each game, scoring three times and driving in four runs.

In the circle for Game One, Janine Lalli pitched all five innings, only allowing three hits while striking out two to earn the win.  For Game Two, Osterhaus went the first five innings to earn the win before junior Paige Lewis came in for the final two to earn her first save of 2013.
