LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – Senior Arquimedes DelaCruz (Wantagh, N.Y.) and the 4 X 800-meter relay each set school records on the first day of the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Championships, held at Rider University.

DelaCruz broke his own record with a time of 9:05.71 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, which earned him second place. His time has put him in contention to qualify for the NCAA East Regional Championships.

The 4 X 800-meter relay time ran the first sub-7:40 time in school history, coming in second with a time of 7:39.27. Senior Chris Vanzetta (Latham, N.Y.) ran the leadoff leg in a split of 1:56.1, sophomore David Marthy (Latham, N.Y.) provided a huge boost with a 1:52.4 split, senior Matt Panebianco (Tappan, N.Y.) followed in 1:55.7, and graduate student William Griffin (Columbia, Conn.) ran 1:54.7 as the anchor leg. The time also met the IC4A qualifying standard.
