EDISON, N.J. – Freshman attack man Joseph Radin (Long Beach, N.Y.) has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday. It is the fifth time this season that Radin has earned the honor, this time recognizing his efforts in Marist’s two games last week at Saint Joseph’s and Manhattan

Radin finished the regular season with a bang, contributing seven points in Marist’s two games last week on three goals and four assists. The freshman had one of his best games of the season with three goals and two assists in a road win at Saint Joseph’s University. Radin had a hand in each of Marist’s first four goals, coming in the first five minutes of the game, as the Red Foxes roared out to a 9-0 lead. He scored the first goal, caused a turnover and collected the ground ball that immediately led to the second goal, and assisted on the next two. In the regular season finale, Radin added two more assists while scooping up two more ground balls and causing another turnover.

Overall, the Red Foxes have now won 15 MAAC weekly honors in the 11 weeks that they have had games. Additionally, goalie Dave Scarcello (Buffalo, N.Y.) has been named Defensive Player of the Week four times. Jack Doherty (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) has earned three Offensive Player of the Week honors while Connor Rice (Penfield, N.Y.) has been named Offensive Player of the Week twice and junior midfielder Mike Begley (Brookeville, Md.) was also named Offensive Player of the Week once.

Marist finished the regular season at 10-3 overall and 5-1 in the MAAC, earning the Regular Season Co-Championship and the top seed in the MAAC Championships. The Red Foxes will play fourth-seeded Detroit in the first semifinal at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 as well as tape-delayed on Time Warner Cable.
