POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Marist men’s basketball team will be participating in the 2013 Ezybonds Global Payments U.S. Virgin Islands Paradise Jam in November. The Red Foxes will play three games in the tournament, and will open against Maryland on Friday, Nov. 22.
The Marist-Maryland game is scheduled to tip off at 4 p.m. EST. This past season, the Terrapins compiled a 25-13 record, and advanced to the Final Four of the Postseason National Invitation Tournament. It will be the first meeting between the schools.
Marist’s second tournament game will be against either Northern Iowa or Loyola Marymount. If the Red Foxes prevail in their opener against Maryland, they will next play on Sunday, Nov. 24. An opening-round loss will result in a second-round game on Saturday, Nov. 23. Marist’s final game will take place on Monday, Nov. 25 against either 2013 NCAA Tournament Sweet Sixteen participant La Salle, Providence, Vanderbilt or Morgan State.
This will be Marist’s first appearance in the Paradise Jam.
“We welcome the challenge of playing in the Paradise Jam Tournament,” said new Marist head coach Jeff Bower, who is entering his first season. “It will be a great opportunity for our players to compete against the best teams in a great venue.”
Marist’s full non-conference schedule for the 2013-14 season – its first under Bower’s leadership – will be released at a later date.
