POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Head coach Tom Hanna of the Marist volleyball teams has announced that he has received commitments from four athletes who will join the Red Foxes this upcoming fall as members of the Marist class of 2017. The quartet will join fellow classmates Liz Gassman and Amanda Schlegel who both committed to Marist back in November.

Amanda Bradley – 6-0 – Outside Hitter – East Haven, Conn./East Haven HS/Connecticut Juniors

Bradley comes to Marist after completing an outstanding athletic career at East Haven High School where she was a four year starter on the volleyball, basketball and softball teams. This past fall, Bradley was named to the 2012 All-State, All-Area and All-Division Team. She was also named to the All-Division team in 2010 and 2011. Off the court, Bradley was named to the Southern Connecticut Conference All-Academic Team and acts as her school’s Secretary of the National Honor Society.

Hanna on Bradley: “Amanda is a great athlete whose best volleyball is in front of her. In her first season of club ball with the Connecticut Juniors, she is already starting to show glimpses of the player that she can become. I am excited to work with her over the next few years and see how great a player she becomes during her career as a Red Fox.”

Devon Dawson – 6-0 – Left Side Hitter – Frisco, Texas/Wakeland HS/Texas Advantage

Dawson comes to Poughkeepsie after being named to the 2011 All-District First Team following her junior season. She was also a member of the USA Volleyball Continental Team in 2011 and 2012 that participated in the USA Volleyball High Performance Championships. Named to the All-conference Team in 2009-10 and 2011-12, Dawson also excels in the classroom, having been named to the Academic All-District Team.

Hanna on Dawson: “Devon brings us size and experience on the left side immediately.  Her club experience with Mad Frog and now with Texas Advantage, as well as her experience with USA Volleyball, will be put to good use in the MAAC.  Devon has a number of tools that will help her and our squad be successful.”

Rebecca Middleton – 5-3 – Libero – Canton, Mich./Canton HS/Premier Volleyball Club

Middleton will also join the Red Foxes after a stellar senior season at Canton High School. She was selected to the 2012 All-Conference and All-Region Teams while also being named to the All-Observer First Team. Following her junior season in 2011, Middleton was honored as an All-Observer Honorable Mention. Academically, she was named to the 2012 Academic All-State Team.

Hanna on Middleton: “Becca is another great addition to our program from the Premier Volleyball Club.  All of our players from Premier have made an impact during their time at Marist and I expect the same from Becca.  Our ball control immediately becomes better with Becca on our side of the net.”

Lexi Millington – 5-9 – Left Side Hitter – Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS/Sunshine Volleyball Club

Millington will look to make an immediate impact on the Marist volleyball program in the fall, as she arrives following a great career at Mira Costa High School. She was named to the All-Bay League Second Team in 2011 following her junior season and topped that with a First Team selection after her senior campaign in 2012. In the classroom, Millington was named a Scholar Athlete all four years at Mira Costa.

Hanna on Millington: “Lexi is a solid left side hitter coming out of a great high school program at Mira Costa, as well as playing in the strong Southern California region with Sunshine.   Her experience will be a welcome addition to our program and an asset for her to make impact in our program.”

The Red Foxes finished the 2012 season at 12-16 overall and 8-10 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). They finished the year on a strong note, winning five of their final six matches, leaping several teams to finish sixth in the conference.
