Womenís Tennis Defeats Saint Peterís Without Dropping A Set

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – In a dominant performance, the Marist Women’s Tennis team defeated Saint Peter’s by a 7-0 score without dropping a set. Junior Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.) led an impressive showing by the Red Foxes with a 6-1, 6-0 win at fourth singles and an 8-0 result with Kaye Eastman (Grand Rapids, Mich.) in third singles.

In identical 8-6 finishes the first doubles team of Joana Sun (Mansfield, Mass.) and Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) and the second doubles team of Kelsey Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) and Sabrina Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y.) helped Marist go 3-0 in doubles action.

Raynor, Pang and Sun would all follow up their strong showings with straight set victories in singles play. Raynor defeated Alexandria Livingston 6-4, 6-4 at first singles, while Pang went 6-3, 7-5 over Adina Halagian at second singles. Sun rounded out the group of Red Foxes, who played both disciplines with a 6-1, 7-5 win over Joniesa Williams at third singles.

Freshmen Lisa Ventimiglia (Bayside, N.Y.) and Adrienne Sieverding (Red Hook, N.Y.) earned Marist’s final two points at fifth and sixth singles, respectively. Ventimiglia defeated Vanessa Vogel 6-2, 6-2 and Sieverding went 6-1, 6-2 over Jessica Nowodgrodzki.  

The Red Foxes wrap up their regular season home schedule with a match against Siena on Thursday at 3 p.m.
