POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – On Saturday, April 6, the Marist women’s lacrosse (4-8, 1-1 MAAC) team will travel to play Siena (2-8, 1-0 MAAC) in a MAAC conference bout at 1 p.m.. The Red Foxes will be looking to start another win streak after seeing their three-game string end with a loss against Fairfield on April 3. Siena is looking to keep its momentum building coming off an 8-4 win against Fairfield. The Saints were on a seven game losing streak prior to their win against Fairfield.

RED FOXES & SAINTS: The Red Foxes command an 11-5 all-time record against the Saints, including wins in six of their last seven meetings. Last year on March 31, Marist defeated Siena at Tenney Stadium by a final score of 10-8. The Red Foxes were led by three goals by Ashley Miller and two goals and an assist by Amanda Tuck; goalkeeper Ashley Casiano spearheaded the defense with 10 saves.
SCOUTING SIENA: The Saints have struggled this year posting a 2-8 overall record. Prior to the Saints’ win against Fairfield on March 30, Siena hadn’t posted a win since February 27 versus Detroit.
Offensively, the Saints are led by Sarah Croutier who has posted 17 goals and 30 total points on the season. Katie Maguire (18g-3a) and Alyssa Treanor (13g-3a) join Croutier as players with at least 15 points on the season.
Defensively, Croutier and Maguire lead the team with a combined 15 caused turnovers and 45 ground balls. In goal, Ashley Holdridge and Danielle DeLisio have split time as the starter with Holdridge posting a 9.40 goals against average and a .447 save percentage, compared to DeLisio’s 13.40 gaa and .356 save percentage.
As a team, they score 8.40 goals per game, while allowing 11.40.
LAST TIME OUT: The Red Foxes fell short to Fairfield on April 3, losing 9-8 in dramatic fashion. In a contest where Fairfield twice had four-goal leads, the team fought hard throughout and would eventually knot the game at 8-8 before losing on a heart-breaking last second goal. Senior Ashley Miller and freshman Allison Gionta led Marist’s offensive effort with three points each, while sophomore Christine Astarita and senior Jessica Irvine led a stout defense with five combined turnovers.
With her six draw controls, Jamie Romano broke her previous single-season program record of 52. She’s now won 53 on the year … Her career total of 152 has overtaken Jamine Aponte as the program’s all-time career record holder; Aponte’s career mark was 150 set from 1998 through 2001.
