POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – In the final CollegeSwimming.com/CSCAA Mid-Major Division 1 Poll recently released, both Marist swimming and diving squads made the rankings in the receiving votes section. The women’s team, coming off their 14th MAAC Championship in the program’s history, was the top MAAC school in the receiving votes section, as was the men’s team in their respective receiving votes section.
With the end of competitions throughout the NCAA Division 1 level, the final rankings for top times have been released; senior Kate Conard (East Setauket, N.Y.) was the top placing Red Fox swimmer with her time of 10:05.21 in the 1000-yd freestyle that ranked her 77th overall in the country. She ranked amongst the top 325 in four other distances and disciplines, the 500-yd freestyle (4:53.78 – 267th), 1650-yd freestyle (16:47.99 – 142nd), 200-yd backstroke (2:00.65 – 253rd) and 400-yd IM (4:25.84 – 307th).
On the men’s side, Jason Ruddy (Lake Katrine, N.Y.) highlighted the Red Foxes’ efforts. The sophomore placed amongst the top 325 in both butterfly events, as well as the in the 200-yd IM. His butterfly times of 49.73 in the 100 and 1:49.20 in the 200 ranked 323rd and 167th, respectively, while his 200-yd IM time of 1:50.65 was 271st.
His fellow sophomore Sean Sullivan (Huntington, N.Y.) ranked amongst the top 325 in both the 1650-yd freestyle (15:53.99 – 260th) and 400-yd IM (3:59.40 – 254th).
Sophomore Bill Drennen (Collegeville, Pa.) was the final Red Fox to finish within the top 325 as he was 212th with his 1000-yd freestyle time of 9:36.13.
Three other swimmers from the men’s program, John Spitzer (Fairport, N.Y.), Nick Spinella (Franklin Square, N.Y.) and Nick Vandermolen (Brielle, N.J.) closed out the group of Red Foxes in the top 500.
