ORLANDO, Fla. - The Marist women's tennis team won its first match of the spring season with a 5-2 victory over Florida A&M in a neutral site contest in Orlando, Florida. Senior Joana Sun (Mansfield, Mass.) and Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) led the Red Foxes over the Rattlers with wins in both singles and doubles action.

Sun and Pang started their winning on Sunday in doubles play as they teamed up to defeat Florida A&M's number one pairing of Holt and Townsend, 8-4.

In singles action, Pang came back to defeat Bethany Holt in three sets 0-6, 7-5, 6-2 at the number one slot, while Sun won in straight sets over Alexis Dean 6-2, 6-3 at second singles.

Kelsey Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) and Sabrina Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y.) combined to defeat the Rattlers' third doubles team of Williams and Dean by an 8-3 score and earn Marist the doubles point.

Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.) and Kaye Eastman (Grand Rapids, Mich.) joined Pang and Sun as singles winners. Campbell won her fourth singles match in three sets over Elysia Ortiz 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 and Eastman won a straight set sixth singles competition over Stephanie Miller 6-4, 6-0.

The Red Foxes be back in action in Orlando on Tuesday, March 19 versus Bethune-Cookman.
