EDISON, N.J. -- The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has honored Marist softball senior Emily Osterhaus (Suwanee, Ga.) as its female student-athlete of the week.
Chosen to the 2013 All-MAAC Preseason team, Osterhaus is participating in her senior season with the Red Foxes as one of the program's most decorated pitchers. A honoree on the All-MAAC Second Team and All-Tournament Teams during her first three years as a Red Fox, she has been a consistent presence in the circle as Marist's number one pitcher. With her early 2013 success, she ranks fourth all-time in wins, fourth in complete games, fifth in strikeouts and sixth in innings pitched in Marist history.
Osterhaus also excels in the classroom, as she was named to the 2012 MAAC All-Academic Team. She is majoring in Biology.
The MAAC chooses its male and female honorees on a rotational basis among the conference's 10 schools. Osterhaus is the sixth Red Fox to be honored this year. Senior Arquimedes DelaCruz (Wantagh, N.Y.) of cross country/track & field was honored on Sept. 17, senior Chelsea Botta (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was honored on Oct. 22, junior Jay Bowie (Tampa, Fla.) of men's basketball on Nov. 27, senior Kate Conard (East Setauket, N.Y.) on Dec. 31 and most recently, senior Joris Van Eck (Ospel, The Netherlands) on Feb. 4.
