POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist water polo team will host the annual Marist Invite Tournament this Saturday and Sunday at the McCann Natatorium. The Red Foxes will play three games and the tournament will feature five other teams in addition to the Red Foxes.
Marist (5-4) will play twice on Saturday and once on Sunday. The Red Foxes will first take on Dollard Des Ormeaux (DDO), a club team from Montreal, at 11:30 a.m. before closing out Saturday with a 7 p.m. matchup versus Notre Dame (Ohio). In the same tournament last season, the Red Foxes came away with a decisive 12-6 victory over the Falcons. Both of Marist's games on Saturday can be seen via a live web stream on The Red Fox Network. The Red Foxes will play the weekend finale on Sunday at 10:30 a.m., again facing off with DDO.
Also taking part in the Marist Invite is MAAC opponents Iona and Wagner as well as Hartwick, who defeated Marist 13-4 in Poughkeepsie last month to kick off the season.
LAST TIME OUT: The Red Foxes swept George Washington and Bucknell on Feb. 17 led by four goals apiece from Jessica Hamby (Sacramento, Calif.) and Ellie Hoffman (Pasadena, Calif.). Rebecca Thomas (Cape Town, South Africa) made eight saves to go along with two steals in the Marist net.
MARIST STAT LEADERS: Hamby and Hoffman lead the team with 12 goals each while sophomore Hannah Levien (Davis, Calif.) is third with nine. Senior Shelby Rinker (Lansdale, Pa.) leads the team in assists with 14 while Hoffman is second with 13. Thomas has 66 saves on the season, along with 14 steals.
