HAMILTON, N.Y. - Facing off with an undefeated Colgate squad, the Marist women's tennis team knew they'd have a battle on its hands. A battle they had indeed, as two of their doubles matches went to tie-breakers as did three more singles matches. Junior Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.) led the Red Foxes with wins in both singles and doubles action.

Campbell first victory of the day came in third doubles where she teamed with sophomore Sabrina Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y.) to defeat Colgate's pairing of Wanhainen and Finn 9-8 with a 10-8 tie-breaker. In number five singles play, Campbell swept Lexi Lazares in straight sets 6-3, 6-3.

Freshman Karly Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) picked up Marist's second singles win as she came back to defeat Alex Petrini 0-6, 6-4 and 6-1.

Rookies Kaye Eastman (Grand Rapids, Mich.) and Lisa Ventimiglia (Bayside, N.Y.) saw both of their matches go to third sets. Playing in third singles, Eastman won her first set 6-2 before Kelsey Wanhainen won sets two and three 7-5 and 6-4. The same storyline played out for Ventimiglia at number six singles as she won the first set 6-3 before falling 6-2, 6-0 to close-out the match.

The Red Foxes be off from completion for two weeks before heading to West Point, N.Y. on consecutive days beginning on March 1 with a matchup with Quinnipiac.
