Menís Tennis Wins Seven Matches On Second Day of Harvard Winter Invite
BOSTON, Mass. - The Marist men's tennis team had a strong second day at the Harvard Winter Invite, playing against opponents from Harvard and Boston College. Overall, the Red Foxes won seven matches - two in doubles' and two in singles' action.
The duo of Dalen Klassen (St. Louis, Mo.) and Billy Bishop (Houston, Texas) won their second doubles' match in as many days, defeating a pairing from Boston College by an 8-7 (5) score, winning the tiebreaker. Will Reznek (Toronto, Canada) and freshman Trym Nagelstad (Oslo, Norway) won their match, also beating their Boston College foes in a tiebreaker, 8-7 (9).
In singles' action, five different Red Foxes were victorious. Matteo Giudici (Parma, Italy) defeated his Harvard opponent in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4. Joe Motta won in the same fashion, 6-2, 6-3. Nagelstad won his second match of the day with a 7-6(4), 6-4 victory over a member of Boston College's squad. Klassen took his match by a 6-2, 7-6(7) score while Joseph Dube (Livonia, Mich.) needed three sets, but came out with a tough 3-6, 7-6 (9), 10-6 win.
Klassen and Dube have now won 14 and 13 singles' matches on the season, respectively.
The Red Foxes conclude action at the Harvard Winter Invite Sunday with more doubles' and singles' action.
