Marist & Saint Peter's To Meet On Saturday In ESPN3 Matchup At McCann

The Marist men's basketball team will face off with the Peacocks of Saint Peter's University on Saturday night at the McCann Arena in a game that will be broadcasted nationwide on ESPN3 via WatchESPN.com. The 7 p.m. scheduled contest will see the Red Foxes (4-12, 1-6 MAAC) look to extend their three-game win streak over the Peacocks (6-11, 1-6 MAAC).

This will be the 40th-matchup between Marist and Saint Peter's.
The Red Foxes are 19-20 all-time versus the Peacocks.
In their last 10 matchups the teams have split the games 5-5 with Marist sweeping three 2012 meetings.

Red Foxes & Peacocks, March 2, 2012 ...
Marist defeated Saint Peter's 64-57 in the opening round of the 2012 MAAC Championship at the MassMutual Center.

A team effort lifted the Red Foxes, as four Marist players scored in double digits.
Chavaughn Lewis led the Red Foxes with 17 points, and tied for the team high with seven rebounds.

Jay Bowie had 14 points and seven rebounds, while Devin Price added 14 points, as well.

Senior R.J. Hall came off the bench to score 10 on 3-4 shooting from the field and 4-4 shooting from the line in 19 minutes.

There were three ties and three lead changes in the first half, but Marist outscored Saint Peter's 13-6 over the final seven minutes of the first half to take a 26-21 halftime lead.

The Red Foxes ran their lead to seven early in the second half, but Saint Peter's fought back and took a 43-40 lead on a three-pointer with 8:19 remaining.

Lewis answered back with three-pointers on Marist's next two possessions as the Red Foxes went on an 11-0 run over a span of 3:02 to take the lead for good.

The Peacocks never got within four points the rest of the way.

Marist had just nine turnovers in the game.

Marist suffered a 72-58 loss at Loyola on in a MAAC contest.

Anell Alexis and Adam Kemp each scored a team-high 14 points. Kemp had a team-high nine rebounds, while Alexis hauled in six while making his first start of the season.

Chavaughn Lewis gave the Red Foxes three scorers in double digits with 12.

Loyola shot .604 (29-for-48) from the field and .714 (5-for-7) from three-point range. The Greyhounds shot .667 (18-for-27) in the first half, in which they scored 43 points.

A Kemp layup one minute into the game accounted for the first points of the contest. However, Loyola answered with five straight points, and led the rest of the way.

In the waning seconds of the first half, Loyola's Franz Rassman hit a three-pointer, which gave the Greyhounds a 12-point lead at the half.

Marist got within nine points at 52-43 with 13 minutes remaining in the second half, but drew no closer.

Scouting Saint Peter's ...

The Peacocks come into Saturday's on a five-game losing streak with their last victory coming on the road at Central Connecticut State on Dec. 29 by a 71-69 margin.

Sophomore transfer Desi Washington leads Saint Peter's in scoring with a 14.7 points per game average. A newcomer from Delaware State, Washington is the team's lone threat from three-point range as he has converted 43 treys, while no other Peacock has more than 10 makes this season. Preseason All-MAAC Third Teamer Darius Conley is off to a subpar beginning to his senior year with a 7.5 ppg and 3.9 rpg statline in 22 minutes of action per contest.
