Marist men's lacrosse alum Nick Armstrong (class of 2011) has been selected to the 40-man roster of the Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse (MLL). Armstrong will attend the Outlaws' training camp this spring looking to make the team's final roster for the upcoming 2013 season.
"I could not be more excited for Nick and the opportunity that he will have with Denver," Marist Head Coach Keegan Wilkinson said. "He is a true competitor and has a passion for Marist Lacrosse that is unmatched. I know he will impress everyone within the Outlaws organization with his commitment to excellence and tremendous loyalty."
A two-time team captain, Armstrong enjoyed a stellar career in his four years as a Red Fox. The defenseman played in 57 games in a Marist uniform, making 42 starts. He grabbed a total of 125 ground balls while causing 47 opponent turnovers. He was selected as Marist's Co-MVPO and named to the All-MAAC Second Team following his senior season in 2011 when he led the Red Foxes with 24 caused turnovers and scooped up 47 ground balls, the second most on the team. Armstrong was named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team in 2010 after collecting three ground balls and causing a turnover against Siena in the semifinals. The Kings Park native was a two-time member of the MAAC All-Academic Team.
Last season, the Outlaws finished in first place out of eight MLL teams with an 11-3 record. They defeated Long Island in the semifinals before falling to Chesapeake in the MLL Championship.
