POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist Water Polo head coach Ashleigh Huckins has announced that seniors Shelby Rinker (Lansdale, Pa.) and Robyn Crabtree (Cutler Bay, Fla.) will be the teams co-captains for the upcoming 2013 season.
Last season Rinker played in all 38 games for the Red Foxes and was first on the team in shooting percentage (.629%), and second on the team with 46 assists. Marist was 11-5 in games that she scored a goal. On 13 separate occasions, Rinker was able to register at least three points in a game. She has also been named to the MAAC All-Academic Team the last two seasons.
Crabtree played in all 38 games for the Red Foxes last season, ranking first on the team in ejections drawn (61), and ranked sixth on the teams in steals (45), assists (26), and goals (29). She was able to record at least one point in 29 of the 38 games, including 18 of her final 19. Crabtree was named to the All-MAAC Second team following the season and has been a member of the All-MAAC Academic Team the last two seasons.
"There is definitely no shortage of leadership in this year's senior class," Huckins said. "I am glad the team selected two good spoken leaders in Robyn and Shelby. I think any of the five seniors would have been a good choice."
The Red Foxes will open their season in San Diego when they take part in the Triton Invite which will be held at the UC-San Diego. Marist will open their home schedule when they host the annual Marist Invite the weekend of March 2-3.
