EDISON, N.J. - In the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's weekly awards announcement, freshman forward Megan McEnroe (St. James, N.Y.) was named the conference's Rookie of the Week. She earned the honor, the first of her career, in recognition of her play this past weekend versus Manhattan.
McEnroe provided instant offense for the Red Foxes in their win on Friday evening on the road at Manhattan. After coming off of the bench in the 35th minute, the freshman broke the 1-1 tie with a scorching shot from atop the 18-yard box into the upper right 90 in the 44th minute. McEnroe's first career goal would stand up over the remaining 46 minutes as the game-winning tally in a 2-1 victory for Marist.
This is Marist's fifth MAAC weekly award of 2012 as Chelsea Botta (East Longmeadow, Mass.), Caitlin Landsman (Burke, Va.), Andrea Wicks (East Northport, N.Y.) and Amanda Epstein (Jericho, N.Y.) earned accolades earlier in the season.
The Red Foxes will wrap up regular season MAAC play with a pair of home contests this weekend as they host Loyola on Friday at 7 p.m. and Rider on Sunday at 1 p.m.
