POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist women's soccer team will hit the road this weekend in hopes of extending its five-game winning streak against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference opponents Manhattan and Saint Peter's. The Red Foxes will face off against the Jaspers on Friday at 7 p.m. before heading to Jersey City, N.J. on Sunday for a game against the Peacocks at 3 p.m.
Last Time Out: After beginning the weekend with an impressive 4-1 win over the then league-leading Fairfield Stags on Friday night, the Red Foxes came out on Sunday with had another impressive game and a 1-0 victory over third-place Iona. Marist dominated the possession for the majority of the game and had many quality offensive opportunities. Amanda Epstein (Jericho, N.Y.) scored the lone goal of the game in the first half, while the goalkeeping duo Andrea Wicks (East Northport, N.Y.) and Caitlin Landsman (Burke, Va.) shut out Iona for Marist's fifth shutout of the season. For the contest, the Red Foxes outshot the Gaels 17-5 and 9-1 in shots on goal.
Scouting Manhattan: The Jaspers come into Friday's game after a pair of one-goal losses on the road at Canisius and Niagara and have an overall record of 4-9 and a 1-4 mark in the MAAC. A defensive-minded squad, Manhattan is led by Janie Schlauder with the team-high of four goals and 8 points, while Martine Diamond is second with three goals and six points. Kara Davis has played 927:27 minutes for the Jaspers and has a MAAC-leading 0.78 goals against average and .886 save percentage. Of note, Davis is backed up by Kristen Skonieczny, the younger sister of Marist assistant coach Steve Skonieczny.
As a team, Manhattan has been outscored 13-10, including a 9-5 margin in the second half of games. Versus common non-conference opponents, the Jaspers are 1-1 with a 1-0 overtime win over Wagner and a 1-0 loss at Fordham.
Scouting Saint Peter's: The Peacocks come into this weekend's game after a 7-0 loss to Niagara on Sunday, Oct. 14. Overall, Saint Peter's has a 1-14 record and 0-5 mark in conference play. The Peacocks are led offensively by senior Jamie Lisanti who has four goals, two assists, and ten points this season. In goal, Caitlin Hoffer has played 1035:00 minutes and has a .682 save percentage. Besides scoring the second-most points on the team with six, Greta Vogel has also started and played two games in goal.
As a team, Saint Peter's has been outscored 65-15 and outshot 324-123. Versus common non-conference opponents, the Peacocks are 0-2 with a 3-0 loss to NJIT and a 5-2 setback at Wagner.
