POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - In the team's lone duel match during this fall season, the Marist women's tennis squad defeated Rider by a score of 7-0. After three tournaments to start the fall, the Red Foxes met the Broncs in a MAAC conference matchup and cruised on the strength of five straight set victories in singles action. Junior Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.) was one of three Red Foxes with both singles and doubles victories on the afternoon.

In singles action, freshman Lisa Ventimiglia (Bayside, N.Y.) made the shortest work of her opponent as she won 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth singles slot.

Other singles straight set winners included; freshman Kaye Eastman (Grand Rapids, Mich.) at #1 singles by a score of 6-0, 6-2, freshman Melissa Carlay (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) at #2 by a score of 6-2, 6-3, Campbell at #3 by a score of 6-0, 6-3 and freshman Nikki Rohan (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) at #5 by a score of 6-0, 1-0 retired.

Marist earned all six singles points as Rider forfeited the #6 singles match.

In doubles action, the freshmen duo of Eastman and Carlay defeated Rider's Roche and Caravaglio by a score of 8-3, while Campbell and sophomore Sabrina Tahir (Yonkers, N.Y.) won over Leder and Vlad, 8-2.

The senior duo of Joana Sun (Mansfield, Mass.) and Kelsey Raynor (Garden City, N.Y.) will be in action tomorrow at West Point, N.Y. as they compete in the USTA/ITA Northeast Regionals.
