Volleyball Looks To Gain Ground In MAAC With Two Home Matches This Weekend
POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist volleyball team returns home to the McCann Arena this weekend for two matches against Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) opponents Rider and Loyola (Md.). Saturday the Red Foxes will face off against the Broncs at 4 p.m. while the match against the Greyhounds is on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Marist suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of Fairfield Sunday after being shorthanded missing three starters who were all out due to injury. The Red Foxes offense was led by Katie Estes (Saugus, Calif.) with six kills and seven digs. While Audra Brady (Allentown, Pa.) had 16 assists and six digs, and Brooke Zywick (Garden City, Mich.) added a team-high of eight digs. On Saturday, Marist pulled off their biggest win of the season with a dramatic 3-2 (25-19, 15-25, 27-25, 19-25, 15-13) victory over Iona. Estes again led the Red Foxes with a double double with 15 kills and 15 digs. Kelsey Lahey (Bowling Green, Ohio) had a career-high 14 kills and Mackenzie Stephens (Holland, Mich.) tied her career-high with 12 kills. Zywick had a match-high 36 digs, making it the second time in four matches that she has reached the 30-dig plateau. Brady had a season-high 48 assists and 14 digs.
The Broncs enter this weekend's match on a three-game winning streak with a 3-5 MAAC record, and a 9-8 overall record. Saturday is the first match the two teams will play against each other this season. Rider is led offensively by Jaclyn Webber who has 180 kills and Bridget Sheerin is second with 155 kills. While Ashlee Amatulli leads the team with 470 assists. On the defensive side, the Broncs are led by Brittany Gajewski with 348 digs and Stephanie Nagy with 42 blocks. As a team, Rider averages 11.65 kills per set, 10.71 assists per set, and 17.54 digs per set.
Loyola comes in with a MAAC record of 3-5 and a 10-9 overall record. The match Sunday is the first time the teams will face off this year. The Greyhounds offense is led by Faye Lukas with 279 kills and Jac Bullock with 220 kills. Lauren Anderson leads the team with an impressive 727 assists. Defensively the Greyhounds are led by Kara Schiffer with the team-high of 251 digs, while Mindy Maloney and Bullock have 49 and 47 total blocks this season. As a team, Loyola averages 12.89 kills per set, 12.13 assists per set, and 15.27 digs per set.

Marist as a team is second in the MAAC with 1.87 blocks per set led by Stephens who is atop the MAAC leaderboard with 1.10 blocks per set. Stoiberg ranks third in the conference with .40 service aces per set. Through last weekend's matches, Stoiberg sits at 50th in the country with her aces per set average
