POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - Marist head men's basketball coach Chuck Martin announced on Thursday that the program will have three captains for the 2012-13 season: Dorvell Carter (Bronx, N.Y.), Devin Price (Inglewood, Calif.) and Jay Bowie (Tampa, Fla.).

"We're really proud to announce Dorvell, Devin and Jay as our captains for the upcoming season. All three have earned the right to be named to this position. Each of them has taken different journeys to get  to this point, but we know that they will take their responsibilities seriously and do a great job leading our squad" Martin said.

Carter was in Martin's initial group of recruits immediately following the coach's hiring in April 2008. He started the team's final 17 games of the 2010-11 season, and was in the opening lineup for the first three games of the 2011-12 campaign before his season was curtailed due to a knee injury. In those three contests, Carter averaged 11.7 points per game and shot .500 from three-point range. He led Marist with 12 points against eventual NCAA Tournament participant South Florida, and also scored 12 against eventual national champion Kentucky. Carter, who also sat out the 2008-09 season due to a knee injury, is in fifth year of eligibility this season.

Price enters his senior season following a breakout junior campaign in which he increased his scoring average by over six points per game and earned Third Team All-Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) honors. In the 2011-12 season, he was one of two Red Foxes to start all 32 games. He led the team with 60 three-pointers, was second in scoring average at 13.6 points per game, and shot .800 (100-for-125) at the free-throw line. In the regular-season finale against Niagara on Feb. 26, he erupted for a career-high 32 points. Price is the Red Foxes' active leader in points (901), games played (89) and starts (68).

Bowie, who is heading into his junior year, has been one of the Red Foxes' most consistent and efficient producers the last two seasons, as well as one of the team's vocal leaders. He has appeared in all 65 of Marist's games over the past two seasons, including 64 starts. In the 2011-12 season, Bowie led the Red Foxes in field-goal percentage (.491) and free-throw percentage (.849) while connecting at a .370 clip from three-point range. Bowie's play was an integral part of the Red Foxes' 7-3 stretch to close last season, as he averaged 11.6 points and 6.6 rebounds in that span. He was also named to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
