EDISON, N.J. - In the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's weekly awards announcement, sophomore forward Amanda Epstein (Jericho, N.Y.) was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week. She earned the honor, the seventh of her career, in recognition of her play this past weekend versus Siena in the Marist's conference opener.
The sophomore forward continued her clutch play versus Siena as she netted her second game-winning goal in as many games over the Saints with a score in the 73rd minute. Epstein's day began with an assist on Rycke Guiney's 69th minute goal as she put in a cross from the right wing. Less than four minutes later, she collected a deflected Melanie Rigo shot and put home a volley past Siena's goalkeeper. Her score was the ninth game-winning goal in 30 collegiate games.
This is Marist's fourth MAAC weekly award of 2012 as Chelsea Botta (East Longmeadow, Mass.), Caitlin Landsman (Burke, Va.) and Andrea Wicks (East Northport, N.Y.) earned accolades earlier in the season.
The Red Foxes will continue its MAAC play with a pair of home contests this weekend as they host Fairfield on Friday at 7 p.m. and Iona on Sunday at 1 p.m.
