Menís Tennis Wraps Up Play At Columbia Classic
NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Marist tennis team wrapped up play at the Columbia Fall Classic Sunday.
Joseph Dube (Livonia, Mich.) lost his perfect fall record when he dropped his semifinal match 4-6, 6-2, 10-5 to his opponent from Cornell in Flight "C". He had been 9-0 so far in the 2012-13 season, including two wins earlier in the weekend, with a pair of individual flight championships.
Dalen Klassen (St. Louis, Mo.) also had his winning streak ended with a 6-2, 4-6, 10-6 loss in the semifinals of Flight "B". Klassen had won six straight matches going into Sunday, winning his flight at the USTA Invitational two weeks ago.
Freshman Joe Motta won a 7-6, 6-4 decision against his opponent from Columbia in the back-draw of Flight "C".
The Red Foxes are back in action next Tuesday, Oct. 16, as they travel to Storrs, Conn. for their first dual match of the season at UConn. They will then finish the fall portion of their schedule at the ITA Regionals in New Haven, Conn. Oct. 18-21.
