POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - In the fourth annual Marist Invitational the women's tennis team had strong performances throughout as they won two singles flights and the A Flight in doubles. Freshmen Kaye Eastman (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Nikki Rohan (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) and the first-year duo of Karlene Pang (Kaneohe, Hawaii) and Melissa Carlay (New Hyde Park, N.Y.) won titles on Saturday in the condensed one-day tournament.

Eastman won the Flight B championship after earning three consecutive wins; an 8-0 victory over Saint Peter's Ivana Grbelja, an 8-6 margin over Melissa Carlay and a dominate 8-1 mark versus another teammate Marielle Campbell (Patterson, N.Y.).

Rohan was the Flight C victor as she defeated Saint Peter's Vanessa Vogel 8-1 in the quarterfinals before defeating teammate Adrienne Sieverding (Red Hook, N.Y.) 8-3 in the semifinals and winning the title via Sabrina Tahir's (Yonkers, N.Y.) retirement.

In doubles action, Pang and Carlay also went three-for-three on Saturday as they beat Siena's pairing of Holloway and Singh, 8-3 in the quarterfinals, Macaluso and Braz of Siena, 8-2 in the semifinals and Saint Peter's team of Livingston and Williams, 9-8 (9-7) in the finals.

In Flight B doubles play, freshman Lisa Ventimiglia (Bayside, N.Y.) and Rohan teamed up to make the finals before falling to Siena's Benfer/Filip squad, 8-5.

The Red Foxes will next be in action on October 18 when they host Rider in a home MAAC matchup.
