POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Marist Athletics Department has announced that the men's basketball team will face Stony Brook in its season opener on Friday, Nov. 9 at 9 p.m. at McCann Arena. The Red Foxes will now have 13 homes games in the 2012-13 season.

The contest will now be Marist's season opener. On the same night, the Marist women's basketball team will host Vermont at 6 p.m. There will be separate admission for both games, and McCann Arena will be cleared following the conclusion of the women's game.

Last season, Stony Brook went 22-10 overall. The Seawolves won the America East Conference regular-season championship, and qualified for the Postseason NIT. The meeting between Marist and Stony Brook will be the first between the schools.

The Marist men's basketball team finished last season 14-18, and won seven of its final 10 games. The Red Foxes return players who scored 95 percent of the team's points from a season ago.
