EDISON, N.J. - In the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference's weekly award announcement, freshman midfielder Simon Laugsand (Sortland, Norway) earned Rookie of the Week honors in recognition of his play versus Adelphi this past weekend. This is his second career honor as he was named Rookie of the Week on Sept. 17.
Laugsand played a vital role in Marist's comeback on Saturday on the road at Adelphi. The freshman defensive midfielder scored the Red Foxes' second goal of the afternoon in the 65th minute as he collected a rebound off of a penalty kick and slotted a shot low and past the Panthers' goalkeeper.
This is the Red Foxes' third weekly honor as Stephan Brossard (Port Washington, N.Y.) earned Offensive Player of the Week accolades on Sept. 17.
The Red Foxes will kick off MAAC play this weekend with a pair of home conference games versus Manhattan on Friday at 7 p.m. and on Sunday versus Saint Peter's at 2 p.m.
